Kicking to a target

This week we practiced our kicking skills. We are working on kicking a ball using the inside of our foot. We began by kicking the ball to a partner and stopping it with one foot.

Next we had the chance to kick to a target; we tried to knock over some bowling pins. We worked on determining and controlling the amount of force needed to kick the ball to the target. We learned how to control the direction of the ball as well.

Snap, Crackle, Pop

This week we played a new game in the gym called snap, crackle, pop. We needed to follow multi-step instructions and work together in teams. We practiced our balance, spatial awareness and developed our coordination and small muscles when running and transporting gym equipment.

We called out the words "snap," "crackle" and "pop." Whenever we heard the word "snap" the first person on each team needed to run to the middle and grab a beanbag or rubber chicken. Then they returned to their team and traveled to the back of the line so the next person could have a turn.

We Love to Groove!

This week we were fortunate to have Mr. Ra from Luv2Groove visit us at St. Anne to teach us some amazing dance moves. While grooving to some upbeat music, students had the opportunity to explore different movements, use their imaginations, develop balance and coordination while having fun and working with their peers.

This week we have been learning how to skip! In order to master jumping and landing over the rope with two feet, we began by jumping over skipping ropes that were placed on the floor. We also took turns holding and jumping over the skipping ropes in groups.

Next we learned how to hold a skipping rope properly and the basic motion of bringing the rope over our heads. We practiced stepping and jumping over the ropes.
